Maybe we can compare notes on how all the hipsters there are always playing mega-Jenga, high-fiving each other and picking fights with frat boys.

Even if they were, I assure you that vintage video games are no ironic pursuit. I can very nearly promise you that if you play through the first two games, your entire view of the third game will change. A ton of amazing things do happen that involve choices you made way back in the timeline. Unfortunately that doesn't carry into the poorly written and essentially choice-free ending. And you are right, the graphics are pretty simple if you're playing on a nice gaming PC. It could have been 20 times worse graphically, but I would still have loved it(and complained a lot about the graphics). Its just 98.6% that good.

Re: Mass Effect 3: How the controversy over the ending misses a bigger point (review)

Like I said, I'm new to the series (as of this game), so of course I'm discounting the emotional connection players may have formed with the characters. But ME1 and ME2 must have been far superior in terms of dialogue, motivation, character arcs, etc. because this one felt like a pretty by-the-book sci-fi adventure to me. Is it better than most video games? Sure, but it was hard for me to understand the crazy amounts of hype. And maybe the graphics praise should have included an explicit "for consoles, that is" disclaimer instead of an implied one.

Re: Mass Effect 3: How the controversy over the ending misses a bigger point (review)

It's funny how the title could so daily be applied to the author. I played and enjoyed all three games (minus the ending) and it seems that you have missed a rather large part of what makes the series so great. Getting to know the characters and growing attached to them was a huge draw for me and from what I've read, many others. I really enjoyed the combat and exploration of the first game, but for the second and third, combat was merely incidental; it was the story that pulled me in and then kicked my face clear off with the abominable ending. The story could have been the standard for future titles to live up to, but instead was a total letdown as it ended so abruptly and nonsensically. Though the game looked nice, it is by no means groundbreaking graphically owing to the fact that it was developed for the lowest common denominator, i. e. consoles. But I didn't care about that, it was the story that mattered, I only wish EA/Bioware felt the same.

Re: Tim Tebow, Brandon Lloyd are out of Madden 13 cover vote

The last 4 days of the voting, I tried to vote for Tebow and my vote wasn't accepted.
